Borghese Gallery Guided Tour with Skip-the-Line Entry & Gardens

The tour was a bit rushed as we were the last group of the day. We missed our bus and were running a bit late but the guide called us and waited for us which we really appreciated. This is the second time I’ve toured this building. This guide was knowledgeable and informative though I felt it was lacking. It was rushed and could have been more detailed.

Die Gruppe war deutlich größer, Der Guide sprach Englisch mit einem so starken italienischen Akzent, daß zumindest wir fast nichts verstanden haben. Daraufhin haben wir die Führung abgebrochen. Eine Tour für 100 Euro pro Person zu verkaufen, Beginn 17:45 , Dauer 2 Stunden in dem Wissen, dass das Museum bereits um 19:00 Uhr schließt und dass dies lautstark, rigoros und ohne Toleranzzeit durchgesetzt wird, ist grenzwertig und grenzt an Betrug. Der Guide hat sein Bestes gegeben und war sehr kompetent, musste aber durch die Räume hetzen und konnte nicht alles zeigen und erklären, wie er es eigentlich vorhatte.

The tour was amazing. Simona, our tour guide, was very knowledgeable and made us hooked from start to finish. Without a tour, I feel that I would probably miss most of the stories and information behind the big paintings and sculptures. We went on this tour as we booked tickets last minute, so it can get pricey, but eventually we really enjoyed it and very pleased we got it.

The tour guide was very nice. But the intellectual depth of the whole tour was very low. We only had superficial explanations. The day before, I joined a tour in Vatican and I didn’t understand how the 2 hours passed. Here it felt so long as it was a bit boring and superficial. I expected much more explanations about the statues and the paintings we talked about, or even the villa or the family itself.

We had the best time exploring the gallery with our guide. She pointed out details in the art and sculptures that we would have completely missed on our own. I especially loved hearing how the collection was acquired, and the stories and hidden messages behind each piece. Highly recommend booking a guided visit, it brings the whole gallery to life.
