Venice: Local Fish Market Tour with Cicchetti, Lunch & Wine

The title of the tour is very misleading. It should not be called a local fish market tour as virtually no time at all was spent in the fish market, which was disappointing. We had been looking forward to learning about the different types of seafood brought to the market from the lagoon and stopping to see the displays, but our guide led us quickly through the market without pause and we didn’t even have time to take photos. In terms of the foods offered, there was very little seafood, which was also disappointing. This is essentially a wine tasting tour with some cicchetti. It was also a very large group. I have done many food tours, but never with so many people. This meant that we were constantly standing in the street as there was no way such a large group could enter the bacari. The wine was served in little plastic cups, which we had to juggle with a napkin holding a cicchetti. Overall, there was lots of wine, but not much food.

We had the absolute best time with Georgia as our tour guide! Can not say enough good things! she was knowledgeable, fun, and very personable; plus the food and wine was amazing! Come prepared to eat, and hopefully have some good laughs like we did. We got lucky with our group and all become fast friends, the absolute best experience we had in Venice!
