Siena: Pasta and Tiramisu Class in a Local's Home

My two daughters (11 and 6) and I had an amazing experience learning to make pasta and chocolate almond cake at Enza's home in Siena. We were the only ones doing the class so we had a very one on one experience and Enza was so welcoming, warm and a wonderful teacher. A truly authentic experience where we felt we walked away with some real skills that can be used back home. It was also great to visit a local and cook in their home kitchen. I highly recommend this class, although relatively expensive, I feel the experience was value for money. We were able to take home what we didn't eat (including the bottle of wine) and share with the rest of the family.

We loved our experience with Patrizia! Our group was just the two of us, so we got a very private cooking lesson. Patrizia was so warm and welcoming and her home so charming; we had the loveliest time learning pasta and a great meal to end the evening with. Her location was an easy walk to/from town or just a 5-10 minute taxi ride away, so if you don't have your own car you can easily participate in this event.

I researched cooking classes months in advance specifically choosing this one which said it was a local chef who would have the class in her home. The general meeting point was in historic center where I was staying. The email stated that we would receive specific address after we confirmed our food intolerances, etc. I did that. I received an email before the event with an address that I thought was where we would end up for the course. Nowhere nor at anytime did it state that the class would be held outside the core center of Siena and that I would need to have car or taxi to reach the destination. I waited for 30 minutes, called the activity provider, and host. No solution for my situation because the deadline for refunds had passed. I requested a voucher for when I’ll be living in Siena in Sep 2025. Again no response; they just kept my money for 2 adults who were looking forward to a fabulous dinner experience.

We had a lovely evening with our host and the recipes we cooked were delicious. We didn’t do as much of the actual cooking as we thought we would do though. We all did feel that the cost per person was high for this activity compared to other activities in Siena, especially for our 4 year old, who would t be drinking wine or eating as much of the food. Overall, it was a fun experience.
