Pompeii & Herculaneum Archaeologist Tour from Naples

El camión llegó a la hora en punto, dieron 10 minutos te espera y todos llegaron. los guías estaban bien informados y fueron puntuales cada vez que se designa un punto de encuentro y horario. siempre nos estaban contando para tratar de no dejar a nadie. creo que la velocidad del tour es perfecta porque después de unas horas estás muy cansado así que te llevan a los lugares que realmente vale la pena ver ya que tanto Pompeya como hercolano son exageradamente grandes. el trayecto fue muy rápido para llegar a los sitios arqueológicos y nos hicieron una botella de agua. los recintos cuentan con baño a la entrada. 100% recomiendo tomar un tour para estas actividades ya que tal vez puedes visitarlo por tu cuenta, pero se pierde mucho tiempo en transporte público y realmente pagar tus entradas y pasajes por tu cuenta. Es prácticamente al mismo precio del tour.

I thought the entire staff was very unprofessional. Upon arrival to Pompeii we were split into two groups and both of them had more than 15 people so if you book the intimate small group, just know it’ll be anything but that. We had to wait 20 minutes at the entrance because THEY DIDN’T HAVE OUR TICKETS. It’s quite literally your most important job. Our guide was nice enough but seemed more preoccupied in making jokes than actually teaching us about Pompeii. I thought the tour was REALLY short, maybe it was shorter for us since we lost those 20 minutes at the entrance, or maybe it’s just that poor. Our guide at Herculaneum was nicer and knew a lot, explained very well and was interested in teaching us about the history of the place. And fyi, even though I don’t speak Italian fluently, I understand it perfectly, and hearing the tour guide and bus driver talking about me with me next to them was not nice at all, even if they didn’t say anything bad, it made me feel very uncomfortable.

We chose this tour because we thought we’d get a good tour of the all of the sites at both locations. Because it was more archeological focused we definitely missed parts that we wanted to see with no time or opportunity to wander around on our own. While this tour was good, if I was to do it again I’d just get the audio tour on site or have a walking tour on audio and do it that way instead. Our guides were great though and nothing other than our expectations were different from what was delivered.

I really had fun on this trip. Of course both sights, Pomeii and Herculaneum, would earn it to give them more time, but if you have limited time and still want to see both, it is a very good trade off. Additionally I would advise a guided tour. There aren't many signs at the sights and they can tell you all the small details that you would miss otherwise. Our guide Diana made a very good job showing us around and organising everything (we had some problems because of travellers that weren't at the meet up points in time). Diana had an eye on all the cruise ship passengers that had to be back in time.. Special thanks for allowing some of us to skip break and let us discover Pompeii on our own instead. For those that would like a longer trip to see more: The time is exactly right. In the end you will get tired of all the new stuff you experience (in fact I didn't sleep enough that night .I was so in my own head, that I even forgot my tip (deeply sorry!!!)) So my advise do it!

Lo mejor fue la guía turística Donatella. Sus explicaciones eran muy interesantes, explicaba de forma clara y ofrecía mucha información histórica de Pompeya y Herculano. Sin duda recomiendo su labor pues si la guía es buena, la actividad se disfruta mucho más. Sin embargo, no nos gustó la organización de la actividad, puesto que no se especifica exactamente los horarios ni las pausas durante las 7-8 horas establecidas (que al final fueron más de 8 horas, y por ese tiempo extra tampoco nos gustó esperar de más). Tuvimos que esperar al guía que fuese a por otro grupo, luego entre Pompeya y Herculano nos vimos forzados a almorzar a las 11:30 de la mañana porque hacían una "pausa" de 2 horas (para mi sentido irracional, ya que lo lógico es hacer las dos actividades seguidas y luego tiempo para almorzar al final, ya que desde las 8:00 de la mañana daba tiempo de sobra a hacer las actividades juntas).

What a wonderful trip to visit both Pompeii and Herculaneum, you will not be disappointed to see both. Our tour guide Diani was amazing! How she keeps all that knowledge in her head is crazy. It was crazy hot in September, so make sure you have water. Your bus will have water as well, just room temp, no ice. Watch out on booking the first Sunday of the month. It is free to locals and can be overwhelming. The roads of Naples suck. So if you get carsick, medicate. Lots of walking. Good communication on where to meet if you are coming off a cruise ship (they say they have a sign, but you communicate on what's app). If you buy lunch included, the place was delicious. Unfortunately the lunch staff was not nice or was anyone working in the Pompeii area. Would recommend this tour. It could be better organized with shorting break times or giving bathroom breaks during tour.
