Florence: San Gimignano & Volterra Day Trip with Food & Wine Tasting

Luciana did an incredible job showing us a wonderful day. Her personal touches to make us comfortable - from ordering the most amazing lunch at a gorgeous restaurant in Volterra, to arranging a private wine tasting at the Il Pozzo vineyard - were at least as memorable as the sites in Volterra and San Gimignano. She managed to fit in everything from stops at an alabaster artisan to a cheese shop to an Etruscan history museum, and she also leapt into action when our daughter got carsick. I would recommend Tuscany4Explore for any Tuscan day trip!

This was an excellent tour in all respects. Very prompt pick up time in comfortable transportation. Our guide was extremely knowledgeable and gave us lots of information on the way to Volterra. The guiding around Volterra and San Gimignano was first class. We didn’t mind the quick walking and pace of the tour as we were keen to see as much as possible in the time. The visits to the alabaster artists was very interesting as was the museum. The lunch and wine provided was way above our expectation. Absolutely top notch. Rounding off the trip with a wine tasting en-route to San Gimignano was a treat as was the gelato in the centre of the town. We found both towns very beautiful surrounded by stunning countryside. The return journey to Florence was fast and we were dropped off at a convenient spot. Thank you to our guide Luciana for an amazing and memorable tour.

A long day but worth it. We opted to see everything and boy you really need to keep up. The two city's visited were a great surprise not crowded and a throw back to earlier days. Lunch was great and what a view. You must be mobile as Luciana walks and talks very fast. She is a local of Tuscany and wealth of knowledge. Well worth the trip. Enjoy.

We had a really fun day. Luciana packed the day full and was very informative about the history, wine in the region , and she ordered us a wonderful lunch with local food specialities. It is a long day with much to see in the beautiful hill top towns, and there is not much free time to wander about discovering on your own. The gelati in San Gimignano is truly delicious!

Everything was very very rushed. There was no time allowed for in San Gimignano. We stopped for 20 mins max and that was to get the gelato. Volterra was very similar we were rushed through the museum, didn’t even get a chance to look at anything. And when I stopped to take a photo it was as if I was inconveniencing the tour guide. The tour guide was constantly making comments on how we needed to move quicker in order to see everything which I found very frustrating as I would have rather done everything at a much slower pace. To top it off when the tour guide asked if we wanted to stop at a great view to see San Gimignano, some members of the group didn’t and some did so it was decided that we weren’t going. It was very disheartening to have my opinion ignored and not considered especially since I paid for this tour as well as the other group members. I will not be booking anything in the future with this company. If I could give ZERO stars I would.

nous avons beaucoup aimé notre expérience. nous aurions aimé avoir plus de temps pour flâner dans les rues, mais d'un autre côté nous avons eu le temps de voir beaucoup de choses en peu de temps. Lucianna a beaucoup de connaissance sur l'histoire des lieux, nous avons appris beaucoup de choses intéressantes et elle sait nous sortir des sentiers battues.

This trip wasn't quite what we were expecting. It was much more historical in nature than advertised. The main reason we booked this trip was the 2 towns it was highlighting and the lunch at the winery. We went out on a Sunday and many things, including the winery was closed. I wouldn't think this should have surprised our guide. The tour seemed a bit chaotic and rushed. While we ended our day at a winery I felt that was only because we pushed for it. So overall the day wasn't bad but not as good as we were expecting.
