Civitavecchia: Full-Day Guided Tuscany Trip with Wine Tasting

It was very difficult to hear the guide in the car. We were straining to hear him. Very knowledgable about some of the stops, others he told us nothing. The last stop he dropped us for an hour with no explanation of the town. Almost every shop was closed as it was midday. There was nothing to do but sit and wait for him with a coffee. That should have been planned better.

Had a lovely day trip to Tuscany. Had booked it based on the itinerary & reviews and especially that it included Saturnia, somewhere which has been on our list for a while. Unfortunately on the day itself we didn’t get Saturnia… only a photo from a distance which was disappointing but not enough to spoil the day for us. There was 11 of us on the bus, with some being transferred from another tour which they said had been cancelled. We visited 3 towns, all which were very pretty and had some free time in 2 of them. The wine tasting with appetisers at Acquaviva Winery was fantastic with the owner very knowledgeable and welcoming with no hard sell, however the wine spoke for itself and we came away with a couple of bottles. They also have accommodation available and are based near Saturnia, so an excuse for a return visit, so we can get the pools. So glad we did this trip as it allowed us to see more of the countryside

4 stars because our tour started of a little rocky: our original driver/guide was suddenly caught ill and the person replacing him was told to cover 2 different groups at once-making us choose either one of the tours.A little unhappy as we paid quite a bit for our original tour so was not keen for a refund at the very last minute- but after discussion with Alessandro we managed to come to an agreement and we settled on the pre-agreed itinerary.The vehicle was adequate but was not clean- skid marks on the floor, rubbish remnants from prev guests, AC not optimal. However despite these pitfalls our fantastic guide Alessandro managed to turn the day around and took us on a lovely trip visiting Pitigliano, Cascate del Molino, Montemerano and ended with a lovely wine tasting at Villa Acquaviva. We had a great time at all these places and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. We wish the tour company had provided more reassurance and I'd be cautious booking with MyLoveItaly in future due to this.

This was an amazing day exploring Tuscany! The driver Elizabetta was superb “Bellisimo. The winery tour was lovely, the highlight was Pitigliano.. wow!! Tuscany at its best. Montemorano.. a hidden gem! I would highly recommend if you want to soak in Tuscany in a short amount of time! Again Grazie Elizabetta … you made the day so interesting and fun. You were so helpful and translated English/Italian perfectly.. enough to chat with the locals. Perfecto!!!! Grazie!! Tina

We had a fantastic day on this tour with Andrea as our guide. He was personable, knowledgeable, and customized the experience based on our small group’s interests. We visited the beautiful towns of Capalbio and Tarquinia, walked along the medieval walls with amazing views, enjoyed a wonderful wine tasting and lunch at CapalBIO Fattoria, and explored the unique Il Giardino dei Tarocchi, which reminded us of Park Güell in Barcelona. The winery experience was especially memorable — the owners and winemaker welcomed us personally and shared great wine, food, and hospitality. We also appreciated the driver’s skill navigating the narrow roads throughout the day. Overall, this was one of the highlights of our trip to Italy and we highly recommend it!

We had a lovely guide (name unknown) for the day. The winery visit was the highlight - the owner was inspirational and shared many family stories with us. A guided tour of the vineyard/winery was followed by a beautiful wine tasting and some snacks. The visit to the thermal baths only involved a brief look at them whereas the stop at Pitigliano was great with time to explore and a coffee/ice cream. It would have been good to have had more commentary on the bus trip as a lot of time was spent on the bus. We had to wait for cruise passengers and unfortunately they did not want to stop at Tarquinia on the return trip even though we had time to do so.

This was one of highlights of a two month trip from Canada! Our guide was amazing. The Acquaviva winery was absolutely amazing. The tastings and wine were out of this world. The presentation and introductions to the wines was beyond excellent!! Words cannot do the experience justice! If you do nothing else while in Civitavecchia - visit Acquaviva on this tour!!! Also visited the hot springs which were a lovely surprise!

The tour overall was pretty good. The wine tasting was by far the best part. Great wine and the owner of the winery was fantastic! However I feel like the full description isn’t all that accurate. It reads like you get to go to the hot springs but we just got to pull off to take pics on the hill. We were disappointed about that. The car rides were also longer than the 50 mins stated. It took 90 mins to get to the hot springs picture place and even longer on the way home. We were crammed in a car with 2 other guests when we thought we would have our own vehicle. The guide didn’t do any talking on the way there or back about what we were passing. And in the towns they didn’t lead us around they just told us when to be back. Besides that, it was a super relaxing day and it was neat to see the Tuscan countryside.
