Colosseum, Roman Forum & Palatine Hill: Multimedia Experience in Ancient Rome

Getting skip-the-line access to the Forum last-minute was definitely worth it. However, we had to pick up our tickets at the business office and walk quite a way to the Forum entrance. The staff gave us a map and directions, but it didn't account for construction on the Wedding Cake that caused a lengthy detour. The entrance we were sent to was also a bit hidden. In the end, it took us 40 mins to get there. FYI, the multimedia video has no narration, and it isn't focused on the Forum. It shows then-and-now images of famous sights across Rome.

The experience was quite disappointing, especially given the price. The video didn’t offer much explanation or storytelling—it mostly just showed images of what ancient Rome looked like, with little context. There was no staff present to check tickets, so it felt like anyone could have just walked in. Overall, it didn’t feel worth the cost or the time.

I had booked the Collesium tour seperately from GetYourGuide. But it was not mentioned anywhere that you could also go to the Roman Forum and Palatine Hill with the same ticket. So, I purchased another ticket for the latter two. That seemed a bit deceitful to me. The multimedia experience was average at best. Could have been a lot better with an audio commentary.

The “tour” was advertised with a meeting point and in English, which were technically true. But the meeting point was an office where we and many others had to wait in a long line to turn in our voucher for an entrance ticket. There was no guide at all. It was a walk back to the entrance gate. The people at the ticket office did speak English. Do yourself a favor and just buy an entrance ticket at the actual entrance.
