Nature represents the main interest, with flower-lined paths, trees of different species and splendid beaches at the end of long stairways. Tellaro presents itself as an open-air museum where it is possible to take a journey through time through this masterpiece of urban planning and architecture perfectly inserted into the landscape. The church of San Giorgio, with its characteristic pink colour, is located directly on the sea, surrounded by houses in typical Ligurian colors leaning against each other among the narrow alleys. Here history and legend mingle and merge: it is told of the rescue of Tellaro from a nocturnal attack by Saracen pirates, in the Middle Ages, by a giant octopus which awoke the population by ringing the church bells.

Porto Venere is a seaside village full of history, which has its roots in the era of ancient Rome. The most fascinating ancient part is represented by a contiguous series of tower houses lined up along the marina, as the first defense of the village from enemies arriving from the sea, connected via two vaulted staircases with the central street of the village, the alley that runs from the historic entrance the entire village up to the Spallanzani square in front of the church of San Pietro. From the alley, then, other stairways, one of which is dedicated to San Venerio, go up to the upper urban nucleus where the Romanesque parish church of San Lorenzo stands, built starting from the year 1116 and consecrated in 1130 by Pope Innocent II. The best-known religious building, however, is the church dedicated to San Pietro Apostolo, famous to the point of being the symbol of the village for its highly panoramic location and architectural structure.

Description. The Palmaria island with its surface area of 1.89 km² is the largest of the three islands in the Gulf of La Spezia and in the entire Ligurian territory; the other two islands, Tino and Tinetto, are met by descending a few hundred meters in a straight line towards the south.

The island of Tino has a surface area of 127,000 m2 and a perimeter of almost two kilometres. On the top of the island stands the lighthouse while in the northern part there is the ancient monastic complex. The westernmost part is characterized by a high cliff which makes it inaccessible.

The name of the populous village in the municipality of Porto Venere can be traced back to the cult of the Madonna delle Grazie introduced by the Benedictine monks of Monte Oliveto who settled in this secluded inlet of the Gulf of La Spezia and built the convent and church there, dedicated to Our Lady of Thanks. The pride of the village are the shipwrights and caulkers, renowned and sought after already in the first half of the 1200s. The flagship is the underwater activity. The divers of the Grazie have worked and continue to work, with skill and courage, amidst difficulties and dangers, in the seas of half the world. So much so that with a resolution of the municipal council of Porto Venere, the village was called "The City of Divers".
