Mount Etna from Catania: 3000 metres by cable car and jeep with pick-up

An unforgettable experience. We were picked up on time and driven through the busy traffic of Cantania by the very helpful and knowledgeable Antonio who pointed out important landmarks and the results of previous eruptions and the excavations of the volcanic rocks. We were offered equipment including hard hats and warm clothing at the start. If you haven’t brought proper hiking boots these were also available. We had to pay the extra €70 for the cable car and 4x4’s to reach the top which is essential to join the trip. The guides were knowledgeable and fascinating. Multiple languages spoken with very good English. We learnt a lot about what makes Etna so unique. It was emitting steam while we were there so vision was a little difficult at times so it was great to have experienced guides to keep us safe. We walked less than we expected as the visibility was restricted and it began raining but at the end we felt exhilarated and delighted to have had such an experience. Grazie a tutti

Der Ätna ist einfach fantastisch, wir waren eine kleine Gruppe von 13 Leuten, so dass auf jeden Rücksicht genommen wurde. Wir hatten sogar 70 jährige, die die Tour gemeistert haben. Insgesamt ist der Ätna touristisch sehr überlaufen zumindest im September, aber unser Guide hat alles gerettet. Tolles Erlebnis. Ansonsten hat alles wunderbar geklappt wie angegeben. Am Treffpunkt musste man noch mal 70€ extra für Seilbahn und 4x4 Bus zahlen

Loved the tour! Pick up from varous places in Catania (and return) was arranged with short coffee stop midway. Trecking equipment, shoes, helmet, jacket, was provided and I even got a more suitable backpack from one of our guides, Mario. Our guide Daniele was knowledgeable and fun and made sure nobody was left behind😜. Walking pace was alright, but a certain fitness level is required if you want to enjoy it. All in all, you are taken very good care of and I highly recommend the operator♥️♥️

The most important thing to be aware of is the additional cost for transportation on Etna. We were informed less than 24 hours before the tour that we would have to pay an extra €70 per person on site. At that point, it was already too late to cancel the excursion without losing the booking. Antonio, our driver, was absolutely wonderful — very attentive, helpful and friendly throughout the whole experience. In total, the experience ended up costing around €150 per person, which I personally think is far too expensive for this type of tour. So while Antonio was excellent and we enjoyed the experience itself, I would strongly recommend checking all possible additional fees before booking. Be careful, as the final price can be much higher than it initially appears.

Es war sehr spannend auf dem Ätna. Wir haben einen shuttle von Catania gehabt. Dies hat super funktioniert. Die Gudies haben uns in 2 Gruppen geteilt. Wir, in der 2. Gruppe, hatten leider nicht so viel zeut an den verschiedenen Stationen Wie die 1. Gruppe. Der Guide achtete auch nicht darauf, ob alle Personen das Tempo halten und dabei sind, während er verschiedenes erklärte.

Super excursion sur l’Etna que je recommande ! Tout s’est très bien déroulé et nous sommes accompagnés à chaque étape, de la prise en charge à Catane en passant par la mise à disposition de chaussures et d’équipement et pendant toute la randonnée. Giuseppe notre guide nous donne de supers infos et anecdotes tout à long de la rando, qui inclut également visite d’un tunnel de lave. Le seul inconvénient était que la randonnée n’était pas très sportive mais elle convient donc à tous niveaux.
