From Rome: Guided Half-Day Trip to Ostia Antica by Train

Our guide Laura was absolutely brilliant, knowledgeable of the smaller details, caring making sure everyone in our small group was okay. Small groups are definitely the best. The added trip to the museum was greatly enjoyed by all. Her knowledge was outstanding, she even walked us home from the station. She is a great asset to the company, the best ever. Thank you Laura

This tour involved a Trio to Ancien Ostia, a remarkably preserved historic site. the trip began 20min earlier than advertised to facilitate the distribution of train tickets. we took the Metromare to Ostia together. Bevier that you can have a cafe at the trainstation Pyramide and look at the name giving pyramid as wellasp a gatehouse of the Aurelian Wall.t Ancient Ostia itself is a vast, very well preserved roman Porttown. It's remarkably similar to Pompeii. In Contrast to Pompeii there are next to no visitors at Ostia which let's you experience this site without crowds. Our tourguide was superb, not only did shem use the trainride to ease us into the history of basicly everything Roman, but she also expertly toured us through the city. if you are intressed in ancient history and you enjoy the Forum or Trajans Markets, then you need to take this tour! bring good shoes and head to the beach in Ostia Lido right after the tour! A great half day out. The meeting place and train ride was easy. Alberto had a great amount of knowledge about the history of Ostia Antica. It was a fascinating place and he was able to show us what daily life was like. So much history. We continued on by ourselves after the tour by train to the coast for a lovely seafood meal. We would recommend this trip to anyone like us who did not have time to do a full long day trip to Pompeii from Rome.

Fantastic tour, our guide was funny, personable and told great stories and anecdotes for the area. Plenty of time to take a break part way. We lucked out that 80% of the tour we had light cloud and a breeze which made this July tour a bit more bearable. I think the o Ly thing that would make it better would be to furnish each group with an area map for your self guided tour once the guided one is complete. Other note, the ocean is a few stops down the train. Quick trip but a bit more walking than one might initially think and make sure to have a sense of where you might want to hit the beach, a lot of space near the station is private clubs.

Wat een geweldige tour! Ostia Antica wordt door veel mensen, onterecht, niet opgemerkt waardoor het er in tegenstelling tot Pompeï erg rustig is. En dat is een gemiste kans. Wij hadden vandaag ook een geweldige gids, Laura, die met veel passie vertelde over deze oude stad uit het Romeinse Rijk. Ook gaf zij ons de kans een kijkje te nemen in het museum. Mocht je een andere gids treffen, vraag zeker om een bezoekje aan het museum met hierin voorwerpen/beelden welke in Ostia gevonden zijn. Ik kan deze tour alleen maar aanraden!

What a fantastic tour of Ostia Antica! Alberto was an outstanding guide—extremely knowledgeable, engaging, and passionate about the site's history. His insights brought the ancient city to life and made the experience truly memorable. He absolutely made the tour worth every penny.
