Most liked the degree of preservation (survival!) because one could get a better sense of the lifestyle enjoyed by the inhabitants of the time. Not at all busy. Our guide, Giovanni, was excellent - very knowlegable and unhurried. Improvements? Better protection on site from vandals, although appreciate that would increase costs. In the UK, sites like this would be patrolled by security/preservation staff.

Excellent tour. We had Giovanni as our guide who is very knowledgeable and passionate about the history of Herculaneum. It was the perfect length of time for the tour and very pleasant day all round. Very good minivan driver too, very pleasant and made sure we were all comfortable during the journey and let us leave bags etc. in the van during the tour. 100% would recommend.

Great trip - small group, guide Connie was knowledgeable and very friendly. Due to trains not running to schedule we were switched to a minibus which was excellent. Herculaneum is much quieter and smaller than Pompeii but equally if not more impressive. Seeing the original articles that were discovered at the site was amazing. It is incredible to think that the rest of Herculaneum still remains under ground.

Fabulous excursion! Giovanni was a wonderful guide, informative and friendly. and Herculaneum was fascinating and beautiful. We did Pompeii a few days ago but Herculaneum was not at all crowded and much more intimate feeling. More complete ruins and easy to enjoy at leisure. Also the small museums are a treat. The minibus was much better than waiting in the heat for a train. By far one of the best outings we had in our three weeks in Italy. Highly recommend and I hope Giovanni is your guide!

It was very enjoyable . The meet and transport were on time and very smooth. Our guide Giovanni was excellent both in his knowledge and very personable. He was clearly enthusiastic about the. history of Herculaneum and surrounding area.of Vesuvius. He encouraged our group to ask questions and interact with him. All in all a first class experience.
