From Amalfi Coast: Capri and Anacapri Full-Day Guided Trip

I have mixed feelings about this trip. While the guide Lucia was very helpful and accommodating, the issue is with the trip itself. Firstly, public ferries are used to get to Capri and this can be stressful as we had to change in Amalfi, travelling from Maiori. Amalfi is a very hectic port. The ferries are packed with people having to stand in the aisles. Not ideal. The trip did include a smaller more private boat trip around the island and we did skip the long queues. Also the trip did include a private bus to get from the port to Capri town and Anacapri. However, there was no time to use the funicular or the chair lift because of the crowds and the time available. There was no time to visit the blue grotto. It felt like a trip to see what you could do on Capri. I felt a bit like a spectator watching other people enjoy themselves. But it is a very busy, popular island. However, I wouldn’t want to do this trip again. Very tiring and not relaxing.

If you are a self explorer then don’t book this. It’s more cost efficient to buy a ferry ticket yourself and just wander the surrounding area. Although it is guided, our guide didn’t speak very loudly so most of the history and information being told I could not hear. In some cases we had to wait almost an hr for transportation from one place to the next. When we arrived in Capri we were told we couldn’t go see the blue grotto bcuz the lines were too long. A girl separated from our group and went and she said it only took 30 mins. This was not peak tourist season so we would have had time to do a lot more if we did not spend soooo much time waiting for boats and the guide talking. We were taken to Anacapri for lunch which had much more expensive restaurants and less variety. I would have much rather ate upon arrival, gone to anacapri to shop and also have free time to ride the cable train that takes you to the peak of the island. All in all, I would not book this again.

The boat trip around the island was great once we eventually got on it. waited 45 minutes in the heat with no explanation. This delay had a knock on effect for the rest of the day. Not enough time anywhere. The guide gave next to no information about the island. No points of interest were recommended, although I doubt we would have had time to visit anything in the short time we had. Very poor trip which was the feeling of our whole group.

This tour was very poor for the price charged. I stayed in Amalfi so I have to go, get the ticket and take the ferry like any other person, once in the Ferry a lady was there but didnt explain anything. When we arrived the Capri a guy was waiting for us and he was in a hurry, collected the people and took us directly to another ferry/shared boat with a bunch of other people with no time for bathroom/drinks/pictures or anything, boat tour lasted an hour and we got no chance/option to do blue grotto. Back in land he was rushing everyone to get into a van to take us to anacapri, he explained a little bit about the city and as soon as we arrived gave us free time, we did the chairlift which was worth it and by the time it finished we have to join the group again. Then we were taken to capri downtown like an outdoor outlet with all the expensive brands, tour guide again gave us free time. After that meeting time again and we were dropped at the marina to catch the ferry. Not worth the price
