Enjoy a unique evening at the Rieti Archaeological Museum, where history meets gastronomy. Savor an apericena inspired by ancient Roman recipes, with each dish explained and contextualized. Also visit the Wearing History exhibition for an overview of pre-Roman Italy.

What's included

The section of the Rieti Archaeological Museum opens its doors to a special event dedicated to gastronomy in ancient Rome. Guests will be served a series of food tastings of culinary products from ancient Rome.
The evening menu includes: Sheep cheese, olives, and organic honey;
Sala cattabìa: rusks dipped in Posca (water and vinegar), garum, cheese, pepper, aromatic herbs; Legumes from an Apician recipe: hulled spelt with peas, chickpeas and lentils, garum, spices and a mix of herbs crushed in a mortar; Dulcia Domestica: dates stuffed with cheese, with honey and chopped toasted nuts, pepper and salt; Mulsum Wine: red wine diluted with water, honey and pepper; Off-menu: white figs covered with carob and cocoa (modern addition). Each course will be accompanied by an explanation of the dish and a contextualization that will help you understand Roman cuisine and the sources that have handed it down to us, while at the same time providing a full and rewarding experience.
