Mount Vesuvius and Pompeii Ruins Day Trip

This was a day trip from Naples to visit Vesuvius followed by Pompeii. I had looked at the reviews and was aware that there was no guide for the Pompeii trip. However, I would have expected some more instruction about the Pompei tour as it is a very large site and quite easy to get lost which we did. It is also not possible to see all of it in the two hours allocated. If the person who gave us an audio guide and the map had taken more than three minutes to explained this and pointed out 10 or 12 major points to see that would have made it so much easier. As it is, it was a very rushed two minutes of how to use the audio guide and we were sent off on our way without any instructions. They also made us enter through the exit and not through the main entrance which caused confusion. The transportation was well organised in a comfortable mini cab and on time hence the two stars otherwise I would have given it to one star.

La verdad que no me gusta demasiado poner reseñas.. pero no estoy muy contenta con esta actividad...En parte tuvimos mala suerte.. habíamos cogido el tour de Pompeya y Vesubio desde Pompeya, y teníamos que ir nosotros a Pompeya por nuestra cuenta.. cierto es que el coche que alquilamos nos salió rana y nos timaron... pero conseguimos otro rápido y fuimos al encuentro del tour lo antes posible. Llegábamos 10 minutos tarde y aunque contactamos con ellos y les pedimos que nos esperaran no lo hicieron... Se que no era un tour privado y que hay mas gente pero pensamos que no era temporada alta, era el último tour y que nos podrían esperar pero no. Subimos por nuestra cuenta al Vesubio esperando encontrarlos allí. El poco que nos contestó la agencia fue que subiéramos y buscásemos al guía, pero no sabíamos como encontrarla. Luego fuimos a Pompeya para hacer el tour dentro y esperábamos que alguien guiara pero era con audioguía. Me parece caro para lo que ofrecen. Mejor hacer por tu cuenta.

Czas na Wezuwiusz jest zbyt długi i później wszyscy czekają bez sensu ale firma w miedzyczasie robi kolejne kursy na ilość a później mimo oznaczenia każdej grupy i tak nas nie zabrali o czasie , bo był taki bałagan i czekałyśmy kolejne 15 min a wcześniej i tak bez sensu godzinę . the trip was definitely worth it! The Vesuv and Pompeii are stunning! For the Vesuv I would definitely recommend the bus tour as it brings so closest to the top! in Pompeii we only had about 3 hours, which was far from enough. Could spend hours and hours in the ruins. There were too many audioguide spots, so it was very overwhelming. The guided tours that we saw and that we heard snippets from, seemed much more structured and informative. would definitely recommend a tour with a guide. so Vesuv 5/5, Pompeii 3/5 since it's stunning, but a bit chaotic with only the audioguide. Unfortunately the tourguides that let us on the first bus gave us the wrong group stickers, so we almost got on the wrong bus from Vesuv and would've missed Pompeii, and instead would've gotten back to Naples. Luckily we asked if it's the bus to Pompeii and they recognise the mistake.

When booking, you have got to be careful what your getting for your money. I thought our ‘guide’ was human, when in fact it was an electronic dictaphone type gadget (from the 1980’s) along with an unclear map of the site that was provided. The area of Pompeii is so vast that you can very easily lose yourselves and therefore miss the important parts that are most relevant. You really only need 2 hours if you are shown around professionally by a guide who knows the site well and that is what I recommend after trudging round for 5 hours, trying to understand where you are on the map, applying that information to the ‘gadget’ and still not seeing all the important parts. CHECK WHAT YOUR PAYING FOR, as it’s not clear in the details!! Once we had entered the site we were approached by a ‘private guide’ who offered us a tour for €120.00 for 4 people, which I now wished I’d taken up.
