Be aware that the time you book may not actually be the time you’re allocated. We received a call just a few days beforehand saying our time had been changed, which left us extremely rushed getting there from another excursion. The ticket office was easy to find, but when we collected our tickets, we’d been allocated an Italian-speaking guide rather than the English guide we had booked. We then had to pay extra for the English audio guide. Ironically, the audio guide actually turned out to be better! You get a little radio and can make your own way around at your own pace rather than having to stay with a group. The main advantage of booking the group tour was that the queue was much shorter than the general admission queue, so that is worth considering. If you’re not bothered about skipping some of the queue, I’d personally just buy a standard ticket and pay €8 for the audio guide. You can bring your own headphones too, otherwise they’re another €1.50.
