Herculaneum Guided Tour with Round-Trip Transfers from Naples or Sorrento

Poorly communicated information about the buses, and rude people. They demand that you leave your passport in the hands of strangers to be allowed to follow the guide with the radio receiver to hear him. At least the guide, Francesco, is excellent.

So easy from first being picked up in the mini bus to going straight into Herculaneum and being guided round by Giovanni who was very knowledgeable about the site and made it very interesting.

This was an extraordinary visit to an extremely well-preserved site, frozen in time. The survival of so many wooden artifacts—cots, room panels, and cupboards—brings the daily life of the era vividly to life. It is incredible to think that 80% of the ancient town remains buried beneath modern Ercolano.

The transportation worked out, but not from the agreed-upon meeting point. That was annoying and required a round-trip taxi ride to the hotel. They promised a tour led by an archaeologist, but I ended up with an audio guide. I paid way too much for this service.
